    The primary purpose of the Security Guard position is to perform the day-to-day activities to monitor safety and secure the facility and grounds in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by the Community Manager and/or Security Supervisor.     •Oversees the security and safety of facility, including, but not limited to, monitoring cameras and other equipment; monitoring and logging visitors entering and leaving facility; patrolling all areas of facility as assigned, independently, within required time limit; and observing, correcting and reporting all unsafe conditions and problems.

    •Carries assigned phone and/or pager and monitors and responds to residents’ alert systems as needed.

    •Completes an activity log at the end of each shift.

    •Assists residents entering and leaving facility when appropriate.

    •Participates fully in ERS Emergency and Disaster Plan, including assisting in evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

    •Assumes the lead role in physically assisting and directing residents during emergencies and evacuations.

    •Reports all incidents and accidents to Community Manager and/or Supervisor; fills out incident reports as needed

    •Responds to and executes minor emergency maintenance/facility requests or grounds/housekeeping clean-ups.

    •Performs limited scheduled maintenance items- checking and recording data.

    •As an ERS team member, upholds the philosophy of Person Centered Care while performing duties; whenever possible acts to restore and/or provide Purpose, Choice and Freedom to our residents.


    •Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent

    •Some previous work experience in security preferred

    •Must be able to read, write and understand the English language and speak the language in and understandable manner

    •Must be able to move throughout the facility including stairwells

    •Must be able to bend, push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally

    •Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based at whatever behavior or acuity level they are currently functioning

    •Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use corrective devices, that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met

    •Must be able to maintain regular attendance

    •Must be able to patrol stairways, buildings and entire campus independently

    •Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
