    We are currently seeking a detail oriented professional who enjoys working as part of a team for an Accountant position. The primary purpose of the Accountant is to complete the day-to-day accounting functions of Episcopal Retirement Services in accordance with current acceptable accounting and reimbursement principles relating to senior living operations, and as may be directed by the Controller.

    The position will primarily work at our ERS support services office conveniently located in the community of Fairfax.     Responsibilities

    • Prepares financial statements for respective business lines.
    • Prepares and enters journal entries.
    • Prepares balance sheet G/L reconciliations.
    • Maintains compliance with financial regulations.
    • Maintains capital project activity and prepares capital project reports for distribution based on direction from controller.
    • Responsible for payroll and billing analysis.
    • Prepares monthly accounting reports for applicable business lines.
    • Assists with annual budgeting process.
    • Performs duties essential to year-end closing process.
    • Assists external auditors in the annual financial audit. Prepares necessary worksheets and provides assistance to auditors.
    • Prepares or assists in Medicaid/Medicare cost reports, 990 tax filings, 5500 tax filings and other non-payroll tax return filings.
    • Employs methods to streamline routine tasks.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
    • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
    • Minimum of 3 years accounting experience preferred
    • Proficient in accounting software: accounting/general ledger systems, an intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Excel, can learn and adapt to systems quickly
    • Open to developing effective leadership skills
    • Must be able to work independently with little supervision and able to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
    • Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language and speak the language in an understandable manner
    • Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met
    • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions and to accept constructive criticism
