    Our Meals on Wheels program is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for temporary employment September 4, 2018 - November 30, 2018. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and experience serving the needs of elders. The primary purpose of the kitchen assistant to provide assistance in all aspects of Meals on Wheels food preparation, meal production, delivery of meals to the community and kitchen clean-up including dishes and other kitchen functions as directed and in accordance with established policies and procedures.


    Since 1989, Deupree Meals on Wheels (MOW), located in Hyde Park, has provided older adults in the eastern portion of Cincinnati with warm, nutritious meals delivered right into their homes. The program strives to supplement family support by providing older adults with a healthy meal and social contact. The program is administered in partnership with the Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio.


    • Assists in the preparation of food for MOW clients including daily breads salads and desserts, in accordance with sanitary regulations, and as assigned.
    • Assures that safety regulations are followed and reports any accidents, hazardous equipment or conditions immediately.
    • Assists on food production line and bagging of frozen meals.
    • Prepares the serving line assuring there are adequate meal containers.
    • Works on the serving line, ensuring that meals and portion sizes are correct.
    • Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, including dishes, pots, pans, floors, equipment, etc.


    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented person who can work independently and with minor supervision 
    • Must possess, as a minimum, an 8th grade education
    • Current valid driver’s license
    • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language and follow written/oral instructions
    • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
    • Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis, and push up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis, stand and move intermittently throughout the work day
    • Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met
    • Must not pose a direct threat to the health of safety of other individuals in the workplace
    • Must be able to maintain regular attendance
