    This is a great opportunity for a professional looking for a short term project or someone seeking a specialized work experience to compliment their current academic program! We are currently seeking a detail oriented professional who enjoys working as part of a team for a Benefits Specialist position September 4, 2018 - December 31, 2018.The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the Human Resource team in the areas of benefits and general human resources to ensure optimal functioning of the human resource process at all ERS locations.

     

    The position will primarily work at our renowned Marjorie P. Lee community in Hyde Park as well as our ERS support services office conveniently located in the community of Fairfax.     Responsibilities

    • Assists internal and external customers, walk in or by phone or e-mail, with human resource inquiries with timely and accurate information.  Responds with courtesy and outstanding customer service. 
    • Develops and maintains an excellent relationship with internal and external customers to ensure optimal cultural alignment.
    • Prepares benefits packets on a monthly basis; meets with benefits eligible staff and assists in ensuring the required forms are completed timely; enters information into the benefit databases.  Reconciles monthly benefits statements and resolves discrepancies.
    • Provides administrative support by entering confidential employee data into HRIS system, including but not limited to evaluations, counselling notices, new hire documentation, benefits etc.
    • Completes verifications as requested by employees in a timely manner.
    • Assists with time and attendance data entry and answering employee questions.
    • Distributes required notices such as COBRA and health insurance notifications in a timely manner.  Ensures all terminations are processed in the appropriate benefits databases.
    • Coordinates companywide benefits events including, biometric screenings, anniversary cards and other events as needed.
    • Administers the FMLA benefits including distribution of forms, tracking responses and following up on outstanding paperwork.  Coordinates the payment of short term disability benefits with payroll
    • Assists with employee wellbeing programs.
    • Assists with employee relations, including, but not limited to, providing requested forms, answering inquiries from staff as needed, and actively listening to employees’ concerns.
    • Tracks licensure, PPDs, insurance documentation and evaluations for contracted staff.

    Qualifications

    • A passion to work with Elders
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • High school graduate: some college preferred
    • Prior benefits experience required; some payroll experience preferred.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office suite required, including Word, Excel and Outlook, and have a high level of accuracy in data entry.
    • Ability to relate to staff across multiple processes and have strong interpersonal skills
    • Must be highly organized, able to handle multiple priorities and to work independently
    • Must be able to transport self to various ERS locations
    • Must be able to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in the English language.
    • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
    • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, benefits providers and the general public.
    • Must possess the ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.
    • Must be able to maintain good relationships and team member morale.
