    The primary purpose of this position is to provide health and wellness programs in the greater Columbus area and support to partners, including congregations, affordable living communities, and community organizations; to present the Faith Community Nurse/Health Ministries concept to interested potential partners; to provide consultation and training to leaders of congregations within Columbus, Ohio on the development and/or enhancement of a Faith Community Nurse/Health Ministries program ; and to give ongoing guidance to the partnering liaison and program in the congregation.

    Responsibilities

    • Participates in the development of health and wellness programs and helps implement them in congregations and with other partnering organizations.
    • Participates on leadership team for workshop(s) and conference(s) with various responsibilities such as speaker and site selection, fundraising, marketing and public relations.
    • Presents the Faith Community Nurse/Health Ministries concept to interested congregations, community groups and organizations as appropriate.
    • Provides opportunities for continuing education and training such as Networking Group, Refresh Your Soul Conference, etc.
    • Consults with congregational leadership and other appropriate members on the development of a Faith Community Nurse/Health Ministries program within the congregation or enhancement of an existing ministry.
    • Gives ongoing guidance to the partner liaison and/or health cabinet.
    • Participates in fundraising efforts for Parish Health Ministry.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a health related field preferred.
    • Licensed registered nurse in state of Ohio preferred.
    • Prefer as a minimum, five years prior nursing or health care related experience. Experience in Faith Community Nursing, teaching, management and program development preferred.
    • Experience working with volunteers preferred.
    • Familiarity with or experience working within a church or faith community.
    • Knowledge of and experience in holistic health concepts, wellness and health promotion.
    • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills required.
    • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
    • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
    • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with all personality types.
    • Must be able to transport self to assigned churches/partners.
