Since 1951, Episcopal Retirement Services (ERS) has worked to improve the lives of thousands of older adults in a person-centered, innovative and spiritually based way through three Continuing Care Retirement Communities, 27 Affordable Living communities for low income seniors, and in-home services including Meals on Wheels and Parish Health Ministry.


The Director of Strategic Partnerships is a newly created role within our growing Fund Development team!


The primary purpose of this position is to expand our partnership and support base, which includes individuals, foundations, corporations, faith-based organizations, and civic leaders to secure funding and resources to propel Affordable Living and Meals on Wheels forward. The Director of Strategic Partnerships will be responsible for developing and executing a highly strategic, innovative and collaborative plan to identify and engage critical community partners who share a commitment to the ongoing need for high quality communities and wrap around services for lower income seniors. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Philanthropy.


  • Responsible for developing and executing a strategic and innovative plan for engaging critical community partners in support of the program, service and capital needs of Affordable Living by ERS. 
  • Creates and manages a committee of business and community leaders whose purpose is to drive community based strategies and facilitate networking connections resulting in fully funding programs and communities.
  • Develops and manages a portfolio of 75-100 individual major and planned giving donor prospects and corporate and foundation partners within the major metropolitan areas we serve who possess the capacity and propensity to support the needs of Affordable Living and other programs of ERS with five- and six-figure gifts.
  • Works closely with the CEO, VP of Affordable Living and In-Home Services, ED of Philanthropy, other Fund Development staff, governance volunteers, existing partners and other parties to bring major funding prospects and/or critical partners to an awareness and involvement in ERS.
  • Identifies and prioritizes compelling capital and program/special project needs throughout Affordable Living and Meals on Wheels to secure major gifts from prospective donors .
  • Maintains and analyzes database records to track donors, donor prospects and gifts to retain and increase long-term engagement.
  • Develops a work plan with financial goals, timelines and funding opportunities.
  • Works in a cross-functional environment, supporting and assisting in other areas of the Foundation.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or related field required; master’s preferred.
  • Minimum seven years’ experience, ten-plus years preferred, in sales, community relations, or development in a corporate or civic/non-profit setting.
  • Proven success in meeting significant financial revenue goals and/or establishing significant partnerships to indicate the capability to secure five- and six-figure gifts.
  • Must possess strong relationships and proven success in networking with community leaders.
  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge or other database preferred, or an aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language.
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs., unassisted.
