The primary purpose of this position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with current, federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility and as may be directed by the Director of Environmental Services, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe and comfortable manner.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely, and professional manner.
  • Ensure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be.
  • Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed.
  • Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
  • File complaints/grievances with your supervisor.
  • Participate and assist in department studies and projects as directed.
  • Attend and participate in in-service educational classes, on the job training programs, etc. as scheduled or directed.
  • Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
  • Keep work /assignment areas free of hazardous objects.
  • Follow proper techniques in mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used for cleaning.
  • Follow established policies governing the use of labels and Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Ensure that established infection control and universal precautions are maintained.
  • Ensure that an adequate supply of EVS supplies to perform daily tasks is maintained in housekeeping/janitorial closets.       Keep supervisor informed of needs.
  • Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc. as necessary or directed.
  • Perform day-to-day EVS functions as assigned including but not limited to: cleaning/polishing furnishings, bathroom fixtures, windows/mirrors, floors, carpets, walls, and ceilings. Remove dirt, dust, grease, film etc. from surfaces.
  • Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators.
  • Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles.
  • Clean vacant rooms as assigned.
  • Ensure that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies etc. are properly stored at all times.
  • Perform isolation cleaning procedures in accordance with established infection control procedures.
  • Discard infectious wastes into appropriate containers.
  • Clean outdoor areas of facility when assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills with both residents and staff.
  • Exhibit strong customer service orientation.
  • Produce accurate work in a timely manner.
  • Prioritize and efficiently handle multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Properly handle sensitive, confidential information.
  • Maintain regular, predictable, and dependable attendance.
  • Attend required meetings and in-services.
  • Perform other related tasks assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education level.
