We are currently seeking candidates for a Director of Community Relations position at our Episcopal Church Home community. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure maximum occupancy goals are met for all levels of care at ECH (with the exception of independent living) using a professional sales process and appropriate tools for all stages of that process including lead generation, lead nurturing, face-to-face selling, and effective closing techniques. Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, presentation and closing skills are required.

  • Responsible for meeting occupancy goals and related revenue to meet budget goals
  • Maintain sales summary, occupancy reports, turnover reports, and other sales reports as needed in a timely manner
  • Manage database of prospective residents, provide tours, perform interviews, follow up in a timely manner with mailings, phone calls, emails, home visits, etc.
  • Manage departmental budget
  • Assist in the development and implementation of an annual marketing plan
  • Maintain and manage a qualified waiting list, making contact to individuals / families as units are available
  • Coordinate the assessment process for admissions with the Health Services Team to determine appropriate level of living
  • Maintain a presence out in the greater community and build relationships with appropriate organizations such as churches, medical-related associations such as the Alzheimer’s Association, and professional referral sources such as estate planners, lawyers, bankers, doctors, discharge planners, etc.
  • Help organize and execute events within ECH and outside the community build awareness of ECH services and to attract prospects
  • Act as a key (but not exclusive) source of “market intelligence” monitoring.
  • Monitor organizational market image and advise and support communication efforts aimed at all key audiences both internal and external.
  • Act as the key source of advice, information, and leadership for all managers on community relations, sales, and marketing issues.
  • In cooperation with the marketing team, develop sales plans for the organization to include lead generation strategies though events, direct mail, advertising, etc.
  • In cooperation with other departments, monitor competitor actions and the market environment to support the development of marketing/business development strategies and to provide market intelligence to The Episcopal Church Home and ERS leadership teams.
  • Monitor the “brand image” of The Episcopal Church Home and the impact of competitive activities, organizational activities, media coverage and market forces on the market position of the organization and maintain a competitive grid updated periodically with pertinent information on pricing, positioning, strengths / weaknesses, new developments, etc.  
  • Direct and support organizational efforts related to participation in and sponsorship of service area community events, provide advice to Executive leadership on appropriate event opportunities and on policies related to event participant/sponsorship.
  • Where appropriate, represent ECH at key civic and community organizations within the region.
  • Provide leadership through hiring, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and educational growth opportunities for assigned staff members within the Marketing Department under your supervision.
  • Maintain a familiarity with the “state of the art” of marketing/business development in the health care field through networking, professional organizations, industry literature and other methods. Help to disseminate that knowledge where helpful throughout the organization.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of general community issues and trends in the Louisville area, including issues relevant to ECH audiences.
  • Display proper etiquette and mannerisms that reflect the mission and values of The Episcopal Church Home and ERS.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data.
  • Perform other related work as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills with both residents, families, and staff.
  • Exhibit strong customer service orientation.
  • Produce accurate work in a timely manner.
  • Prioritize and efficiently handle multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Properly handle sensitive, confidential information.
  • Maintain regular, predictable, and dependable attendance.
  • As an ECH/ERS team member, upholds the philosophy of Person Centered Care while performing duties; whenever possible acts to restore and/or provide Purpose, Choice and Freedom to our residents.


  • Minimum 3 years’ experience and a successful track record in selling high level needs-based services required.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office software including Outlook required.
  • Competency in customer relationship management required.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, sales, communications, health care or related field preferred.
  • 2 years' experience in selling senior living services or related healthcare services preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of senior living and elder services preferred.
  • Experience in planning and executing community events preferred.
  • Must be willing to work with a sense of immediacy in a high-energy environment.
  • Must have effective communication skills.
